On Monday evening, Indian immigration officers detained Rehan Ahmed, a young leg-spinner from England, after discovering that he had entered the country on a single-entry visa.

It is not permitted for a person with a single-entry visa to leave the nation and return. Taking a chartered jet from Abu Dhabi to Rajkot, the England squad spent ten days in Abu Dhabi between the second and third Tests before heading back to India.

It has been recommended that the England team reprocess the visa, and this will take place over the course of the following two days. The athlete will be practicing on Tuesday, according to a BCCI official. He was granted permission to enter the nation with the rest of the squad.

This was the first time a foreign aircraft has made a direct landing in Rajkot. A makeshift immigration counter was established for this reason, and Jamnagar officers were in charge of it. Out of the thirty-one English participants, Rehan was the only one without the appropriate visa.

Rehan made history last year in Karachi against Pakistan by being the youngest male cricketer from England to grab five wickets in a Test match. Ahmed’s father, Naeem, was a former Pakistani fast bowling all-rounder. Ahmed was born in Nottingham in 2004.

Along with off-spinner Shoaib Bashir and left-arm spinner Tom Hartley, who also made their debuts here, Rehan is one of three young spinners who have made an impression on the Indian tour. In the two Test matches so far, Rehan has claimed eight wickets. With Jack Leach ruled out due to injury, the three of them will now be carrying the brunt of the spin on tour.

England have used a single fast bowler in conjunction with three spinners so far. Mark Wood was seen in action in Hyderabad, while James Anderson participated in the Test match in Visakhapatnam. The second spin bowling option on the team is Joe Root.
