Punjabi Woman's Perilous Escape from 'Predators' in Oman, Concealed by Travel Agent

According to a source, the women from Punjab who were tricked into traveling to Oman under the pretense of finding work are instead being compelled to engage in “immoral activities” there.
Following the frantic efforts of Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), one such Punjabi lady was lucky enough to escape from the grasp of “predators” in the Gulf nation,According to the reporter.
The woman from Punjab's Kapurthala was quoted in the report as saying that “Punjab women who are being taken to Oman on the pretext of giving them a job (“domestic maid” or “caretaker” work) are allegedly being sold to local people there and are also allegedly forced to engage in immoral activities for survival.”
According to the report, a group of 35 other single or married young ladies from Punjab are waiting for rescue after being tricked by their travel agencies in India and being stranded in the Gulf nation.
According to the victim's account in the report, “…and those who resist are kept hungry for days.”
“My aunt said that I could earn a good amount of money there (Oman), while working as a 'caretaker' in a hospital with a promise of a Rs 30,000 per month salary,” the victim was reported as having said.
According to the article, the victim was “uneducated and transported to the Gulf on a vacation visa. Her aunt, who worked as a travel agency, collected Rs 70,000 from her and thereafter sold her to some locals in Muscat for Rs 1.50 lakh.
“On March 16, when I arrived there, the authorities grabbed my passport and phone and locked me up in a room. I was not provided any food. Later, I discovered that there were also 35 more Punjabi women who were imprisoned. I had to tolerate them. I requested that the agents bring me to the hospital for the “promised” caregiver position, and they then began pressuring me to engage in immoral behavior, which I resisted and flatly rejected. They beat me up viciously as punishment for my rejection, the victim was reported as having claimed in the report.
