Men’s shuttlers from Asia give lose ground to China and finish second in the group

<p>The Indian men’s team lost to China in a tight 2-3 group draw at the Badminton Asia Team Championships today, feeling the loss of renowned doubles players Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.</p>

<p>China leveled the score at 2-2 after winning both of the doubles matches, despite victories by HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen in the singles events. Then, national champion Chirag Sen lost the fifth game, allowing India to give up the draw.</p>

<p>The management of the team decided to rest the world’s top two players, Satwiksairaj and Chirag, and Kidambi Srikanth, as India had already advanced to the quarterfinals after their 1-4 victory against Hong Kong on Wednesday.</p>

<p>Lakshya then easily defeated Lei Lan Xi 21-11 21-16 in forty minutes to take the lead back, but in the second doubles match, national champions Suraj Goala and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy were defeated 13-21 9-21 by Ren Xiang Yu and Xie Hao Nan, with the final score being 2-2. Chirag was defeated by Wang Zheng Xing 15-21 16-21 in the decisive match.</p>
