Created in Seoul's Nanji Park is the "BTS Forest"

On Wednesday, Melon, a local music streaming service, said that as part of its eco-friendly initiative, it had named a forest after the K-pop band BTS.

The BTS Forest, which is situated in Nanji Han River Park in western Seoul, is made up of three fringe trees and 400 holy bamboo trees, according to the service, which also said that the trees were purchased using donations from its users.

When users choose the name of their preferred performer on the project home page, the site claims that 2% of their monthly money is set aside as a gift.

A forest in Seoul will be named after the selected musician if the contribution exceeds 20 million won (US$16,762) and is given to the Korean Federation for Environmental Movement.

Last month, BTS became the first performer among both local and international artists to receive more than 20 million won in fan contributions via the initiative.
